Spa | Description: Tierra
Atacama, an all-inclusive resort opened January 2008, sits at the gateway to the
Atacama Desert, one of the highest and driest places on earth with surreal sandscapes,
salt valleys, lush river basins, and massive volcanoes. After enjoying a day of
adventure in the dry desert heat, guests will find a highlight to be returning
to the rejuvenating Uma Spa. Uma is the Aymara word for water. Water is a source
of life, of revitalization. Uma Spa at Tierra Atacama hopes to provide you with
the revitalization, personal luxury and rejuvenation you seek. Treatments
& Programs: Local elements are incorporated into the spa treatments
including desert herbs, desert sand, salt from the lithium rich salt flats, volcanic
stones and volcanic mud from high in the mountains. Body Scrubs (exfoliation
with desert salts or sand and a massage with hazelnut or shea butter cream), Body
Wraps (a mud herbal detox wrap and bath or sea weed body wrap and bath), Baths
& Hydrotherapy (hydrating bath with milk and roses, relaxing bath with
milk and mint, relaxing bath with infusion of desert herbs, hydrating bath with
lavender or rose oils, baths with exfoliating salts and oriental woods), Body
Treatments (toning massage with slimming creams, lymphatic drainage massage
with draining oils, treatment for tired legs), Alternative Therapies &
Massages (Deep tissue massage, harmonizing massage with relaxing essence,
aromatherapy massage, volcanic stone massage, reiki and crystal therapy, reflexology),
Facial Treatments (deep hydration desert facial, rejuvenating facial, Atacama
stone facial), Waxing, Signature Rituals (Atacama Ritual
Exfoliation, bath, hydrating massage and facial; Desert Ritual Body wrap,
bath, hydration, massage with volcanic stones or hot towels and herbs). Spa
Facilities: The Uma hostess will welcome you with slippers and robes
and show you to the dressing areas. There is an outdoor swimming pool, a jacuzzi
and an indoor heated pool. The indoor pool has water jets, beds of bubbles and
other playful features. The Uma steam room or Turkish bath is lovely after a day
in the dry air of the desert, and the dry Finnish sauna wipes away stress as it
warms the muscles. The four tranquil rooms for massages, facials and body treatments
are quiet and inviting. There are also spaces for meditative relaxation where
rica rica herbal tea and cold cucumber water are served. There is an outdoor yoga
platform for those who wish to practice yoga in open air with the atacameņan views
all around. The grounds feature nice walks and there are beds placed about the
garden to give you outdoor resting spots. Chaise lounges are available by the
pool. Other Facilities: Tierra Atacamas
rooms all have private terraces and views of the Licancabur volcano. The interior
decoration is casually elegant in the neo-minimal style. The decorators scoured
local villages looking for the unique hand-made textiles and crafts to add authentic
desert cultural pieces to each room. Of the 32 rooms, 30 are designed for two
people either in separate beds or together. There are also two Family Suites with
three bedrooms, one large double room with a private terrace and bathroom and
two smaller rooms for 2 people each. All the rooms are equipped with wireless
internet connections, central heating, safe, hair drier and telephone.
Excursions
are included in the all-inclusive price. The classic Atacama tour includes the
Salar de Atacama (Salt Flat), with its three varieties of flamingos, the Valle
de la Luna (Moon Valley), Puritama Hot Springs, and El Tatio Geysers. We also
recommend and offer excursions to lush green canyons, bird watching and wildlife
tours, walks through salt crusted caves, sand dune surfing, or climbing expeditions
to the major volcanoes. Equally interesting are the visits to cultural sites that
shaped the history of the area, include picturesque villages and churches, ancient
dwellings, and ancient rupestrian art. More
