Register visits The Massage Center when she is not traveling
*Seven
or eight years ago, our local newspaper wrote an article about my daughter's orthodontist.
In it, Dr. Greeley mentioned that she had regular massages at The Massage Center
in Wilmington, DE. Being in a profession that required a lot of bending, she found
regular massage indispensable. I immediately purchased a gift certificate for
my husband, and he has been a regular client there ever since. I started going
a couple of years ago (read my first review).
Now, when I am not on the road and need a massage, I head to The Massage Center.
We have followed The Massage Center through two owners and three locations and
have seen the business grow and thrive. Now my son, who just received a massage
license after completing over 1,100 hours of training at The School of Shiatsu
and Massage at the Harbin Hot Springs Watsu Center to become an Advanced Bodywork
Therapist and Watsu Practitioner, works at The Massage Center. His specialty is
Lomi Lomi and Watsu. Thank you, Dr. Greeley! Without your recommendation, our
family probably would not have made The Massage Center connection. |
Since
my review in 2003, I have experienced a number of treatments and therapists at
The Massage Center, and they have all been terrific. I really appreciate that
one hour massages with house staff at The Massage Center are actually 60 minutes
long - not the now-usual 50 minutes at many spas. Owner Rob Eppes,
LMT, NCTMB says
The Massage Center is the region's largest hands-on health & healing facility
and has the most comprehensive menu
of services in the Brandywine Valley. I believe it. He also has a team of
very talented
therapists. In my 2003 review, I mentioned The Massage Center celebrates and
treasures each individual therapist's unique training and skills. It's still true
in 2005. Below are a few highlights. | Jeff and I have enjoyed
a Side-By-Side Couples Massage at The Massage Center. My regular therapist, Helen,
worked on Jeff and Jeff's regular therapist, Amanda, worked on me. It was fun
to experience each other's preferred massages. Sadly, Helen and Amanda are no
longer at The Massage Center. Helen has returned to her home state of Arizona
(lucky Arizona!) and Amanda left to pursue a new career as a nurse. While we miss
them and wish them well, we have a large number of other excellent therapists
to choose from. |
*When
I feel tight all over, I go to Glenda Tyler, LMT, NCTMB for Thai Yoga Massage.
I love Thai massage and always feel energized and more flexible afterwards. Glenda
does a great job. Glenda studied with Kam Thye Chow, author of Thai
Yoga Massage: A dynamic therapy for Physical Well-Being & Spiritual Energy
and founder of the LotusPalm School in Montreal, Canada. The one-hour session,
based in Ayurvedic Medicine, Buddhist spiritual practice and Yoga blends gentle
rocking, rhythmic acupressure, and assisted stretches to open, exercise and tone
all the systems of the body. Thai massage sessions are conducted on a mat and
recipients are dressed in loose, comfortable clothing. To see a demo of Thai massage
I photographed while in Thailand a few years ago, click HERE. |
*When
I need a deep tissue massage, I see Ron Carter, LMT, NCTMB, AOBT who offers Ashiatsu
Oriental Bar Therapy. This type of massage is like no other. In it, Ron uses the
supported weight of his body through his bare feet to deliver deep pressure. According
to Ron, the massage is an adaptation of ancient barefoot massage using deep compression
gliding over the body. Benefits include deep relaxation and stimulation of the
lymphatic system for health and wellness. This massage does a great job on my
always-tight shoulders. Other clients report improved posture and movement, pain
relief, improved bodily functions and enhanced sense of well-being. Ron also offers
Sports Training Massage, Deep Tissue Spot Workout, Medical Massage and Ear Candling. |
Other services offered at The Massage Center include Raindrop Therapy
with Patti Scallan, Massage and Bodywork with Lisa Marie Browne,
Magnified Healing Lisa Marie Browne, Customized One-Hour Full-Body
Massage, 90-minute Massage Sessions, One-on-One Massage Instruction

Survivors, Full-Body Shiatsu Massage with Ronni Yaskin, Connective
Tissue Release & Cranial Sacral Rhythm with Ronni Yaskin, Pelvic
Girdle Melting with Rob Eppes, Maya Abdominal Massage with Herbs

Manual Lymphatic Drainage by Mimi Batman, Maternity / Prenatal Massage
with Kathy Roberts, RN, LMT, Foot Reflexology with Glenda Tyler

In addition to providing the residents
of Delaware and nearby New Jersey, Pennsylvania and Maryland a destination to
get an excellent massage, Rob Eppes has been very active in raising the standards
for the qualifications for massage therapists in the state. As a massage consumer,
I truly appreciate that. Rob serves on the advisory board for the Academy of Massage
& Bodywork and received the 2002 Distinguished Service Award from the Delaware
Chapter of the American Massage Therapy Association. He is Director of Continuing
Education Administration & Development for Wellness Management Systems, a
NCBTMB approved education provider for Massage Therapists. | Treatment
