Description: Kinan.
"spirit; solar force; higher spiritual energy." (Maya) / k'in
["sun"] + an ["to be"]. [pronounced - keynan] is the
Maya word for the source of the sun. Similar to the Asian
concept of Chi, Kinan is often referred to as the individual inner energy.
Opened in fall of 2004, the new spa combines Mayan concepts to offer a
full range of spa services in unique environments including treatment
rooms with private gardens, outdoor massage palapas (small thatched roof
pavilions) and a rooftop tower treatment room with 360 degree views that
capture the two ecological systems of Maroma the jungle and the
sea.
Treatments and Programs: Temazcal,
Massage (Body Oil Ceremony, Hot Poultice Massage, Hot Stone Massage, Four
Hands Massage, Reiki), Yoga, Body Treatments (Exotico Body Polish, Purifying
Body Kinku (Ritual), Oceano Nourishing Wrap) Facial Treatments (TAN ICH
Face - Kich Pam Face, Profound Splendor, Deep Cleansing Facial),
Spa Packages, Jantzu, Manicure, Pedicure, Waxing.
Healthy Yucatan-inspired spa cuisine can be enjoyed poolside or in the
privacy of your treatment room. The menu includes: Aquarius salad; spinach,
artichoke harts, chaya leaves, string beans, citrus fruits and home dried
tomatoes; spiced beetroot soup over jicama and yogurt slaw; false cauliflower
couscous with grilled langoustines and a hibiscus flower reduction, guajillo
stuffed with buckwheat and shrimp brochettes, and carpaccio of zucchini,
melon ravioli with crab and ginger and a tamarind sauce.
Spa Facilities: The Spa at over 6,365
square feet was handcrafted by the same family of Maya masons that have
been working with Maroma founder and architect, Jose Louis Moreno, for
over four decades. This long standing creative collaboration is one of
the reasons that guests and photographers rave about the visual beauty
of the resort. In addition, Jose Luiss strong belief in the Maya
study of astrological alignment and energy channels has given the Kinan
spa its spiritual essence -- each building and treatment room has been
aligned to the stars to ensure positive energy flow so the body, mind
and spirit are at peace. White and cream stucco finishes, carved niches,
arched windows and doorways, Conchuela (shell) floors from the Yucatan
complimented with loose river stone borders, hand-hewn beams made from
the local Zapote trees and native hard wood furnishings all provide an
authentic yet soothing environment. Strategically placed windows and alfresco
corridors provide sunbeams, fresh oceans breezes and bird songs from the
jungle. There are three treatment rooms each with its own shower,
bathroom, and treatment tub, two wet/dry sauna and cold plunge pool treatment
rooms, a manicure/pedicure room, one Massage tower with 360 degree views
capturing both jungle and sea ecosystems, three beach palapas for massage,
two Relaxation Rooms, one Roof top yoga and meditation pavilion and a
Jantzu garden pool. There is a Flore de vita (Flower of Life) pool located
in front of the floatarium building. The flower of life symbol is incorporated
into the design of the pool and is considered sacred among many cultures
around the world, both ancient and modern. Within this symbol can be found
all the building blocks of the universe and the symbol is often used as
a metaphor for the connectedness of all life and spirit within the universe.
The Wellness centre located in the adjacent Aquarius area of the resort
offers cardio machines as well as free-weights, and spinning classes.
A personal trainer is available for appointments.
Additionally you will find a Spa Boutique, Kinan treatment consultation
room and Ladies and mens changing room.
Other Facilities: Maroma has 58 rooms
and suites tucked among lush gardens, cooled and shaded by coconut palms
on one side, open to the dazzle of sun and sea on the other. Rooms glow
with mahogany and bamboo-filtered light. A rainbow hammock beckons from
the open-air terrace. Handpainted tile, soft wool rugs, original art and
furniture from our own workshops make each unique. King-size bed and luxury
bath with sunken tub provide delicious comfort just steps away from the
sparkling beach, exquisite pool, beachfront jacuzzi, dining pleasures
and voluptuous gardens populated with exotic birds and iguanas.
Maroma offers a variety of choices on and off-site. Enjoy the use of
the three swimming pools, Jacuzzi and Multimedia Theatre, or for something
a little more active why not try diving, sport fishing, kayaking, parasailing,
windsurfing, sailing, swimming with dolphins, golf or horse back riding.
