With the release of the Day Spa Association's latest "Marketing
Demographics of a Day Spa-Goer" the question of the day is
"Who is our average Day Spa Client?".
Based on data collected over six years (3 two-year studies) our
Day Spa Client might look something like this:
Female, age 24-35, college educated, married with no children at
home, visiting a spa once every month to every three months, concerned
about the cost of Spa services, spending about $100 per visit, and
visits the Spa alone.
But that doesn't tell the whole story. This study shows tremendous
interest and growth in all age groups and income levels. Indeed
the lower the income the more interest in receiving Spa services,
hence the huge concern over the often hefty prices being charged
at many Spa (and Salons) and that demand will increase as these
groups acquire disposable income.
The study also looks at favorite services, indicating that the
public most enjoys a good Massage, followed by Facials, and Pedicures.
The surprise here is just how profoundly they want these services
more than the wide variety other Spa offerings often found.
Other demographic information includes how "Day Spa Goers"
feel about Resort and Vacation Spas and how their visits differ
from the Day Spa visit.
The study also includes commentary from the participants typical
comments talk about the "Professionalism" of certain Spas
both positive and negative, and "Affordability".
