A Complete Journey of the Senses
The Spa at Mandarin Oriental, New York transports guests
into another world - a tranquil place focused on relaxation and serenity.
Personalized treatments or "journeys" are booked in blocks
of time called TIME RITUALS with a two-hour minimum recommended.
Designed to restore one's natural state of equilibrium,
The Spa's TIME RITUALS are performed in harmonious stages: Welcome,
Purify, Nurture, Balance and Bliss. The amount of time booked determines
how many phases can be experienced, and to what extent. Each journey
provides a peaceful passage calling upon the ancient traditions and
techniques of Chinese, Ayurvedic, European, Balinese and Thai cultures.
Guests are encouraged to arrive a minimum of 40 minutes prior to their
scheduled treatment and fully immerse themselves in an oasis of heat
and water: the crystal steam room, blending heat and water through
a delicately lit amethyst, and the vitality pool, where guests lie
in hot mineral water on a suspended cushion of air while being gently
massaged by hydrotherapy body jets.
After enjoying the water treatments, clients await their
treatments in the Oriental Tea Lounge. Each treatment commences with
a soothing foot ritual during which the spa therapist assesses how
the guest wishes to feel at the end of treatment and selects the appropriate
aromatherapy oils to induce the desired effect.
At the conclusion of the treatment, guests are offered a complimentary
choice of herbal or health beverages from the Tea Spa Collection and
escorted back to the Relaxation Lounge. Here, the subtle aroma of
essential oils and therapeutic music helps maintain a deep meditative
state, allowing the guest to float back to reality at their own leisurely
pace.
