Nusta Spa to Host an Event to Officially
Receive its Gold Rating from the U.S. Green Building Councils
LEED Program for Commercial Interiors
Washington DC (July 12, 2005)--Nusta
Spa will host an event to officially receive its Gold Rating from
the U.S. Green Building Councils LEED Program for Commercial Interiors.
LEED (Leadership in Environmental and Energy Design), created
by the U.S. Green Building Council (USGBC), is a third-party
rating system created to define and measure the standard for green building.
The short ceremony, followed by a champagne reception, will be held
at Nusta Spa, 1129 20th Street, NW, Washington, DC, on Thursday, July
21st at 4pm.
Nusta Spa is the first and only Washington DC project
to achieve the Gold level of certification under any of the USGBCs
LEED rating systems. Nusta Spa was designed by DC-based Envison Design
partner Kendall Wilson, a leader in sustainable design and long active
with the USGBC and its LEED programs, and recently named Designer
of the Year by Contract Magazine. The average American spends
90% of his or her time indoors that is what makes green interiors
so important. Nusta Spa was constructed with rapidly renewable and recycled
materials that are manufactured in an environmentally friendly way and
that do not use off-gas harmful chemicals or volatile organic compounds;
the result is high-performance design and a healthier-built environment
for the spas guests and employees.
Nusta Spas Founder and President, Elizabeth Snowdon,
is thrilled to be awarded the Gold rating. Says Snowdon, Our goal
was to create a beautiful spa using materials that would not only have
minimal impact on the environment, but also would contribute to a healthier
space for our clients and employees. The results have exceeded my expectations,
and this recognition by the USGBC is truly the icing on the cake.
Nusta Spa is proud to be leading the trend in sustainable
design in the District of Columbia, and Tomaysa Sterling, Chief of the
Sustainable Solutions Division of the District governments Energy
Office will attend in support of Nusta Spas achievement.
The president of the U.S. Green Building Council, S. Richard
Fedrizzi, will make the presentation to Elizabeth Snowdon, Founder and
President of Nusta Spa, and to Envision Designs Kendall Wilson,
lead architect on the project.
