The Institute for Health & Healing
at California Pacific Medical Center and Canyon Ranch Join Forces
SAN FRANCISCO, CA (April 14, 2004) The Institute
for Health & Healing at California Pacific Medical Center, San Francisco,
Calif., the largest and most comprehensive integrative medicine program
in the nation, announces its affiliation with Canyon Ranch, the pioneer
and leader in healthy lifestyle and wellness experiences. The partnership
is the first of its kind for a community hospital and a health resort
and enables the two organizations to provide joint programming, cross
referrals, and faculty exchange and education. Clients/guests of the
organizations can further their health care at either the San Francisco
or Tucson sites.
William B. Stewart, MD, Medical Director of the Institute
for Health & Healing, said, Our association opens the possibility
that a major medical center can be your partner when youre healthy
as well as a caregiver when youre sick.
The relationship between these two organizations
was forged to support the mutual goal of improving the health of our
individual and shared constituents in a flexible and creative fashion,
said Canyon Ranch Executive Vice President Gary Frost, Ph.D.
Each organizations combination of medical approaches
and healthy lifestyle options is unique. With a quarter-century of delivering
life-enhancement opportunities to thousands of guests each year at its
two destination health resorts and three SpaClubs, Canyon Ranch brings
to the partnership a proven integrative and holistic approach to health
and wellness. On the long list of what makes Canyon Ranch special, the
extensive range of medical services ranks right on top. Their multifaceted
team of physicians and health professionals is in a class by itself.
Recognized as a national leader in integrative medicine,
the Institute for Health & Healing is staffed with board-certified,
Western-trained physicians and expert clinicians who combine the best
of conventional medicine with complementary therapies. The quality and
breadth of the Institute for Health & Healings programs led
to California Pacific Medical Center being selected Americas
Healthiest Hospital by Natural Health magazine. The Institute
offers services at four medical centers in the San Francisco Bay Area.
This unique collaboration recently kicked off at the Institute
for Health & Healings Mini Medical School lecture series,
where Phil Eichling, MD, Medical Director of Canyon Ranch in Tucson,
spoke about two major contemporary public health problems sleep
deprivation and weight management and offered holistic, science-based
solutions for both. The ongoing exchange of physician experts continues
this summer.
