Mandarin Oriental, Tokyo Reveals
the Ultimate Sky-High Destination Spa
Tokyo, April 4 2006 -- The
Spa at Mandarin Oriental, Tokyo brings an array of sophisticated
upscale spa and wellness options to one of the worlds most dynamic
cities.
Located on the top two floors of the new Mandarin Oriental,
Tokyo, the Spa crowns an architecturally unique complex that joins a
historic landmark building with a soaring, Cesar Pelli-designed tower.
The Spa at Mandarin Oriental, Tokyo will bring exceptional standards
of service to Tokyo, for which Mandarin Oriental is known worldwide
and will draw on the renowned expertise of sister spas in Bangkok, New
York and London, all of which were recognized in 2005 by Condé
Nast Traveller UK as among the top ten best urban day spas in the world.
General Manager Christian Hassings says, We are
very pleased to bring our expertise in spa design and operation to Japans
sophisticated spa market -- a market defined by its highly discriminating
clientele. We think consumers here will welcome and be excited by the
unique wellness facilities and treatments that the Spa at Mandarin Oriental,
Tokyo will offer.
Perched on the towers 37th and 38th floors, the
950 sq meter haven offers an unparalleled mix of therapies, from hydro-
and heat-based treatments to ice fountains for skin toning and tightening.
The Spa at Mandarin Oriental, Tokyo is also the first in the city to
offer its facilities to local residents as well as in-house guests at
no extra charge, thus fulfilling the true role of a day spa.
In nine serene treatment rooms, including five Spa Suites,
massage and other therapies based on Chinese, European, Mediterranean,
Indian, Arabian and Thai traditions will be tailored to address each
guests needs. Relaxation, wellness and beauty components draw
upon ancient and contemporary techniques and are conceived and presented
as a personal journey toward conscious wellbeing. Designed to ensure
total privacy, some of the Spa Suites feature dedicated facilities for
heat-based treatments, such as feature baths, steam showers and Rasul
rooms -- the latter the first ever offered in Tokyo.
Professional body and skin care products by Comfort Zone
and Aromatherapy Associates will be used in the treatments, as will
the luxury hotel groups signature line, which includes aromatherapy-based
body and bath oils, stylish spa-wear, tea-infusions and an Asian-inspired
CD collection. The line blends the finest quality extracts and essential
oils from plants indigenous to Asia and facilitates continuation of
the wellbeing process at home.
A highlight of the Mandarin Oriental Spa experience is
the Time RitualTM, for which guests book an allotment of
time rather than a specific treatment. Intended to restore the bodys
natural state of equilibrium, the experience shifts the emphasis to
a personalised assessment of the guests needs on that given day,
ensuring the ultimate treatment for body, mind and spirit. Other original
offerings include the Tokyo unique Adzuki Ritual, Absolute Pearl body
wrap, Oriental Harmony, featuring Mandarin Orientals own frangipani
and jasmine infused signature body oil and salt scrub, and the indulgent
Taste of Traditions, developed in conjunction with Comfort
Zone, which fuse therapeutic elements from the Orient, Mediterranean,
India and Arabia.
Located on the 38th floor, a high-performance fitness
centre complements the Spa, offering a range of state of the art cardiovascular,
strength training and pilates equipment to the hotel guests with stunning
cityscape views of the city and Sumida River.
The fitness centre features the most innovative technology
equipment from Life Fitness. The exercise line includes treadmills,
lifecycles cross trainers, rowing machine, a wide range of free weights
and Peak Pilates Systems.
The sophisticated Cardio machines feature individual integrated
LCD touch screen monitors to motivate you while you exercise. With a
touch of the screen, you can select your personal fitness program or
access one of the available entertainment channels for your listening
or viewing pleasure. Enquiries and reservations can be placed by calling
+81 (3) 3270 8300 and/or by fax at +81 (3) 3270 8308.
