Kurotel to Open a New Unit in Japan
New York, September 7th,
2007 - The award winning Kurotel Longevity
Center and Spa will be announcing in first hand at Spa
& Resort/Medical Spa Expo & Conference, the launching of a new unit
in one of the most advanced countries when becomes to longevity: Japan. After
long exchanged researches and with similar high-end health technology, Kurotel
is opening the third unit in partnership with a leader Japanese health entrepreneur
to offer an unprecedented health experience.
The voice of Kurotel
and the founders daughter, Mariela Silveira, MD, will be speaking about
this exciting new project at the New York Spa Expo & Conference to be held
next weekend in New York City. She will be speaking in the panel Global Business
Model and Global Spa Trends, to the worldwide Spa industry professionals.
Since
Kurotel establishment in 1971 in the city of Gramado which have been included
in the book 1000 places to see before you dye by Patricia Schultz
in Brazil, it has become a worldwide reference on its segment. The founders
Dr Luis Carlos Silveira and his wife Neusa have begun the health Preventive Medicine
study at the time everyone else was focused on the disease. In 1982, Kurotel opened
its doors with the German Kneipp Method philosophy using healing and preventive
approach. In 1984, Kurotel pioneered the stress management education in Brazil
while in 1997 it added the Aesthetic Care. In 2006, Kurotel has announced the
opening of two new units: the first one in Porto de Galinhas in the north of Brazil,
which is the nearest location from North America and Europe; and the second, the
Kur Health Center, also in the city of Gramado. The Longevity Center celebrates
its 25th Anniversary this year and has established a mark of excellence by achieving
top honors in spa and travel awards.
If we go back to
the 70s, we see the physicians centralizing health information and prescribing
recommendations and treatments to the patients, which used to follow, but there
were lack of resources, says Dr. Silveira. The huge difference from
now and then are health information and knowledge. With information, people are
able to discuss what is better for them being also more active in the treatment
process, continues her. The Spa Industry grows at 16 percent per year, and
the number of people living a healthy lifestyle will increase dramatically in
the next few years, according World Health Organization. Among the Global Spa
Trends predicted to 2015 are chronic diseases recovery treatment, life span forecast
and diseases prevention. The society will make positive life style choices
and will become an intelligent consumer of health services. Consumers, providers
and associated members will seek for effective methods to reach their goals.
Global
Spa Trends applied at Kurotel:
1) Healthy Aging: Although many
people use the word anti-aging, this concept, unfortunately, is not
possible. Healthy aging is the key. In 2000 there were 600 million people aged
60 or over, in 2025 there will be 1,2 billion and in 2050 there will be 2 billion
of elderly people in the world and we have to be professionally able to deal with
these new demographic changes.
2) Predictive Medicine and Genetic
Approach: the possibility to precisely prescribe the best therapy, personalized
diet, exercise, drugs and so on.
3) Non/less invasive and safer
procedures
4) Healing life style (education of Spa purpose,
home Spa)
5) Comparing results using trustable source
6)
Ultra comfortable environment
7) Nature and natural resources
8)
Water as the key
9) Customized and personalized treatment:
This is definitely the biggest trend, along with warm human approach.
The
Medical Spa Destination might decrease within the next years due to the pulverization
of the Spa Industry. With the increasing need of living a healthy life style,
healthy practices will be in the daily routine and will be found in everywhere
from hospitals, medical centers, day spas, fitness center, to healthy living condos
and communities as well as cosmetics, supplements, phytotherapy, among others.
Spas will have to adapt their facilities to better attend the new health demand.
The
Spa & Resort Expo & Conference/Medical Spa Expo & Conference will
be held at the Jacob Javits Convention Center - New York, NY, from September 8-10,
2007.
