Cary
Collier of Collier & Collier/Blu Spas Inc. Designs First Hammam in Las Vegas
at Drift Spa at Palms Place
Las
Vegas, NV - April 22, 2008 - The ultimate Spa hot spot in Las Vegas has arrived:
the lavish Drift Spa at Palms Place,
a haven and spa enclave featuring the citys first hammam devised by industry
leader and designer Cary Collier. The hammam concept, a wet relative of the sauna,
utilizes the curative powers of heated stone slabs, aromatic inhalation and ambient
steam to encourage cleansing and renewal. The Drift hammam design is full of sexy
curves, mood lighting and stunning mosaic tile.
Since early
2005, Cary Collier, Co-Founder/Owner of Collier & Collier Spas and Co-Founder/Principal
of Blu Spas Inc. has been part of a talented team of project planners and designers
assembled by Palms Place owner, George Maloof. Colliers role was to initiate
a facility size program and support the project team with design and technical
information to detail the architecture, interior design and engineering where
applicable. He worked with the project team to create the hammam concept as well
as layout coordination of all the spa areas, from treatment rooms to the back
of house. His team also assisted with sourcing and detailing operating equipment.
The plush Drift Spa will allow guests to indulge in a blend
of ancient Turkish and Roman healing traditions and contemporary treatments for
the body and soul in a modernly-designed ultra luxurious retreat. Boasting 20
treatment rooms amid two floors of enticing ambiance, the 50,000 square foot spa
and magnificent pool provides the perfect Las Vegas escape. The spa offers couples
suites, solitude suites, orient rooms, fun tubs and private relaxation areas or
the option to soak in the sunshine at open air cabanas. Curative treatments include
the barefoot Ashiatsu Massage, Hot Stone Massage, herbology, custom aromatherapy,
and bio-energetic medicine. Guests are invited to indulge in Drifts hot
pool with underwater-jetted beds as well the cool dip pool with waterfall and
light features completed by refreshing outdoor garden rinse showers.
To promote physical activity, the Spa has a modern Movement
Studio for Pilates or Yoga as well as a Fitness Club featuring the most advanced
cardio and weight/strength equipment. An exclusive hair salon operated by Michael
Boychuck has a team of stylists and treatments to get tresses looking good for
Las Vegas excitement. The famous LA-based Sunset Tan also unveils its first location
outside of California and the sixth ultra-modern sun spa in the booming brands
business.
Striking interior design and
furniture are from the renowned Yabu Pushelberg. Drifts décor is
sumptuous and warm, adorned in opulent textures and hues of gold, burgundies and
earth tones complemented by rich wood furnishings.
Collier
shares, The designers from Yabu Pushelberg were exceptional with the capabilities
to deliver distinctive design.
Drifts
Spa Director is Jennifer Noble, a Las Vegas native who has an array of experience
opening distinguished havens and creating unique treatment menus for The Ritz-Carlton
Lake Las Vegas, The Spa at Red Rock and The Spa at the Diplomat. Collier states
that Jennifer Noble is a rare find. In my opinion, she is in that top list
of best spa directors not only in Vegas but in the country.
The most important element for Collier was to design a spa
for guests that was memorable and exceeded the owners expectations. The
hammam is an innovated concept for Las Vegas and we had the perfect team to pull
it off. Designing an extraordinary spa includes an overall design palette that
captures the guest and inspires them to see and experience everything, and then
come back again and again. A spa of this magnitude has to be a 'feel good and
make me feel good place.'
