Experience
the Journey to Well-Being at Hyatt Regency Curaçao's Atabei Spa
Allow
the five senses to awaken, hydrate, nourish and renew at the Caribbeans
newest luxury spa
WILLEMSTAD, Curaçao
March 23, 2010 Combining indigenous ingredients unique to Curaçao,
the new Atabei Spa at Hyatt Regency Curaçao Golf Resort, Spa and Marina,
opening April 20, 2010, welcomes guests to experience an authentic holistic retreat.
The spa draws inspiration from the ancient culture and rituals of the Arawak people,
the original inhabitants of the island, and looks to utilize native plants, sea
salts, muds and herbs honoring the majestic landscape of Curaçao. Surrounded
by the beautiful Caribbean waters, Atabei Spa will feature 4,500 square feet of
indoor/outdoor space.
The spa invites
guests to relax and rejuvenate while experiencing the many native traditions and
rituals, which inspire Atabei, meaning mother earth, creator of life.
Spa Director Karina Chung stated, It is believed by some that the origin
of the name Curaçao is a derivative of the Portuguese word for healing,
due to the plants that grow on the island and it is our goal to incorporate those
abundant local ingredients. We hope to provide guests with a truly awakening experience
where we are guiding their body and spirit towards a healthy lifestyle, not only
at the spa but also at home.
The
signature treatments at the spa are designed to heal and guide the body to a more
relaxed and stress-free state. All treatments begin with a Balinese foot cleansing
ritual using herbs, local sea salts and a kalbass bowl used as a vessel to cleanse
the body and soul. Enveloped with island rich minerals and vitamins, guests can
soothe their skin with the spas Mud Restore Wrap. Applying traditional Curaçao
healing techniques, the Stemps Massage utilizes sachets of locally grown herbs
dipped in warm organic oils, leaving the body in a tranquil state of relaxation.
Guests seeking the ultimate in rejuvenation
can experience the signature Lama Salt Bar. The create-your-own body scrub experience
allows guests to select from a combination of sea salts, herbs and aromatic oils,
which meld together as a detoxifying scrub, leaving the skin glowing like the
Curaçao sunset.
Just as spectacular
and as refreshing as the treatments are the suites at Atabei Spa. All guest-centric
style suites are equipped with private Swiss rain showers, outdoor relaxation
area and a vanity, which allow guests to remain in one individual room for multiple
treatments. Couples can enjoy harmony together in the spas intimate couples
suite. Guests wanting to get closer to nature can do so at any of the indoor/outdoor
treatment rooms, which boast spectacular views of the ocean and the radiant Curaçao
sky.
Atabei will proudly feature the
earth-friendly products of Curaçao local, Dinah Veeris, whose botanical
garden and homemade products menu includes: Curaçao black mud and aloe,
Curaçao white mud with oats, Caribbean Sea salts, rosemary, yerba bueno
and Curaçao white basil. The spa will also use products from Naturopathica
eco-certified, natural products using herbs and botanicals grown on organic
farms from around the world. For salon treatments, Atabei offers the Spa Ritual
nail care line which uses eco-friendly and organic vegan products with plant essences.
Hair is hydrated and renewed with Davines an Italian hair care line which
uses renewable energy sources and active ingredients such as herbs, flowers and
fruits.
