Spa Matilda Debuts as a Defining Component of the New, Cutting-Edge Hotel Matilda
Offers Authentic, Transformational Experiences through Integrated and Personalized Treatment Programs
San Miguel de Allende, Mexico, December 15, 2010 – When Hotel Matilda welcomed its first guests in September, it unveiled a cutting-edge, lifestyle-focused guest experience combining everything from innovative international dining to a vibrant, gallery-like ambiance filled with eye-popping contemporary art.
“Now, Spa Matilda has opened as a defining component of the Hotel Matilda experience, where guests are immersed in the latest trends and advancements of today’s spa world,” said General Manager Andrés Sanhueza.
Spa Matilda was developed by Under a Tree Consulting, a branch of Amy McDonald and Associates, an award-winning spa and wellness consultancy. “We created Spa Matilda within the context of our underlying belief that an integrated program of personalized treatments provides the foundation for a truly authentic spa experience,” said Founder Amy McDonald.
Located in a sensual land with rich historical roots, San Miguel de Allende represents the merging of opposites – rustic and sophisticated, historic and modern, mystical and earthy. McDonald explained that Under a Tree focused on integrating these seeming opposites into a timeless healing environment of elegance and deep transformation, to create a spa experience that is unique to the destination, and true to Hotel Matilda’s spirit of originality.
Integrated Treatment Programs: The spa is an intimate haven of comfort and sophistication where integration is the underlying philosophy. The menu presents an integrated program of traditional and innovative spa therapies, beauty treatments, fitness services and wellness offerings. To achieve meaningful results for every guest, the individual needs and expectations of each guest are explored and treatments customized to their personal goals and unique lifestyle factors.
Multi-Faceted Facility: The 4,700-square-foot spa is set in a tranquil garden ambiance sculpted with indigenous flora. Guests are greeted at the entrance by a dramatic water feature, a liquid wall gently flowing down from the infinity-edge pool above. The private Hammam, for individuals and couples, features a dramatic boveda (arched ceiling) and interactive water feature inspired by indigenous design and materials. The four treatment rooms include a couple’s room, wellness studio (for yoga and Pilates) and a private luxury spa suite featuring a mediation garden, lounge and personal facilities replete with steam shower, soaking tub and dedicated grooming area. There are sitting areas for pre- and post-treatment quiet time including two patios and an indoor/outdoor Relaxation Lounge with fireplace. A fitness facility features cardio- and strength-training equipment, along with an adjacent studio for personal training, stretching and functional movement.
Apothecary: The indigenous healing traditions of the region are showcased within the spa’s unique Apothecary. It offers hand-blended treatment and retail products inspired by the regional culture and composed of locally procured artisanal ingredients.
The diverse menu includes the following:
-
Integrated Wellness Experiences: Each of the five suggested experiences – Decompress, Recover, Energize, Focus and Radiate – offers a specific theme that corresponds to individual needs, goals or state of mind. Alternatively, the spa can create a completely customized program based on the guest’s unique personal preferences and objectives.
-
Massage and Specialty Bodywork: The diverse selection ranges from familiar options such as Deep Tissue and Aromatherapy, to more exotic modalities like Thai and Cranial Sacral and signature therapies such as hot/cool Stone, Purifying Honey and Herbal Poulstice treatments.
-
Body Therapies: Uniting the power of water, heat and natural ingredients with the intuitive touch of the therapist, the Body Therapies comprise a variety of exfoliating Scrubs and revitalizing Wraps that tap timeless traditions and local ingredients, such as Coconut, Vanilla and Lavender; Nopal, Ginger and Lime and Tres Leches.
-
Skincare: Employing the technologically advanced Natura Bisse and Primavera products with maximum concentrations of highly effective ingredients, the facial menu offers a choice of Revitalizing, Hydrating, Vitamin C, Calming, Holistic, Purifying, Oxygenating and Re-sculpting treatments.
-
Beauty Services: To help guests look their best when stepping out or attending that special event, notably the increasing number of weddings and other celebrations being held in the destination of San Miguel, the Spa offers head-to-toe beauty and grooming, including Nail Services, Waxing, Hair Styling and Makeup.
-
Fitness & Mind/Body Experiences : In addition to the cardio- and strength-training equipment, the state-of-the art fitness center offers Yoga, Personal Training, Pilates, Meditation and Tai Chi. Directions and maps also are provided for walking, jogging and hiking excursions.

You can clean your home, fruits, vegetables and meats with the same 'Aqueous Ozone' that spas and other companies use. Tersano's ‘Aqueous Ozone’ Cleaning Systemt is the world's most effective chemical-free cleaner. ‘Aqueous Ozone’ quickly oxidizes (kills) viruses and bacteria (including E.coli, Salmonella, MRSA, C-Difficil), mold, mildew and other contaminants on any item or surface - from toilets to bedspreads - before changing safely back into water and oxygen. ‘Aqueous Ozone’ is 3000 times faster and 50% more powerful than bleach and chlorine-based cleaners. It is 100% chemical free - no toxins, carcinogens or chemical residue - and safe for babies, pets and people with sensitive skin or those with strong reactions to normal cleaners. ‘Aqueous Ozone’ has long been used in water treatment, food sterilization and medical therapies for its remarkable anti-viral, and anti-fungal properties. It sounds too good to be true, but the data show how effective the system works.
I'm a believer.
