Types of Spas Visited

One out of five Americans indicates visiting at least
one type of spa in the past 12 months. That means that more than 44.9
million people aged 16 and above visited spas in the U.S. between
June 2002 and June 2003.

Visits to Day Spas lead the list - with 11% of the
population - or 25.6 million people 16 years of age and above - visiting
day spas one or more times during the same time period.

Resort/Hotel Spas come in second. They received more
than 16 million visitors between June 2002 and June 2003.

In last year's study, it was determined that Day Spas
are the largest segment of the spa industry, while Resort/Hotel Spas
are the fastest growing segment.
