Maternity Treatments and Programs: Pregnancy Massage - Pregnancy Massage therapists are specially trained and experienced in Pregnancy Massage techniques. Bey's Garden loves to work with pregnant moms, and take particular care in knowing what your specific needs are and what they can do to support you during this exciting time! Care Package - Give the gift of regular bodywork to yourself or someone you love during this time when a woman’s body is going through so many physical and emotional changes. Regular physical care during pregnancy has been shown to greatly reduce stress and tension leading up to the birth, giving mom and baby a chance to slow down and mellow out! Doula Support - The presence of a Doula (also known as a Birth or Labor Attendant) during labor is happily becoming more and more common both in hospital and in home as women are realizing that support during birth helps to make labor a less stressful time. A Doula is simply a person, usually a woman, who is experienced in both the practicalities and the magic of birth, who assists and supports the mom and whomever she chooses to have with her.
Some of the misconceptions about Doulas are that they somehow take the place of a mom’s partner during the birth; or that having someone who is unfamiliar at such an intimate time as a birth would be uncomfortable. However, the goal of a good Doula is not to take anything away, but rather to make the entire experience, which can often be confusing and a little scary, less complicated and more relaxed. A Doula can do this in a myriad of ways: by having knowledge of and being able to clearly explain the physiology and the terminology of the body before and during labor; by her experience with position and comfort techniques and being able to convey those in a helpful manner; and by adding strength to the laboring mom by her confidence in and awareness of the natural process and the normalcy of birth.
