2007 Spa Reviews by Julie Register The
following are reviews of some of the spas Julie Register visited in 2007 | While
I was attending the ISPA Conference and
Expo, I took the opportunity to visit the Canyon
Ranch SpaClub which is located in the Gaylord Palms Resort &
Convention Center where the event took
place. Read about my experience there. ~Julie |
While
I was in Florida for the ISPA Conference

Tabacón
Grand Spa and Thermal Resort near the Arenal Volcano in Costa Rica is a perfect
combination of everything I seek when I go to a spa - natural hot mineral springs,
excellent spa services and facilities, indigenous experiences, lovely and comfortable
accommodations, fabulous food and a little adventure. It is, in fact, in a tie
for my personal all time favorite spa in the world. Please note that you can click
on any of the photos in the article to see larger images or click HERE

I
celebrated my wedding anniversary and husband's birthday at the Oneida Indian
Nation's Turning Stone Resort in Verona, New York. We experienced a couple's treatment
in the expansive VIP Suite at Skaná: The Spa at Turning Stone. Read the
article and enjoy the photo

Every
spa should have some truly memorable feature. LATHER's is a 200 square-foot wall
of live tropical plants in its lounge - a vertical garden designed to purify the
indoor air by improving air circulation and increasing oxygen levels. It also
has a great line of natural products. Read about Julie's experience at LATHER
Spa in New York City.

Yelo
is not a spa. Yelo doesn't offer massage, body scrubs, body wraps, facials or
hydrotherapy. "Why did Julie decide to visit it and write about it for DiscoverSpas.com?"
you might reasonably ask. Read the article to find the answer. |
Callaway
Gardens in Pine Mountain, Georgia holds special memories for Julie Register and
her husband. When they were both students at Georgia Tech many years ago, they
would escape the heat of Atlanta summers to the cooler mountains and these beautiful
gardens. They returned this summer to reminisce, and Julie experienced the 4-month-old
Spa Prunifolia at Callaway Gardens. |

Register and her family have made a tradition of participating in the Peachtree
Road Race in Atlanta, Georgia each Fourth of July. Julie has also made a tradition
of visiting a spa in Atlanta before the race. This year, she visited the new 12,000
square-foot Spa at Four Seasons Hotel
Atlanta and experienced a Pomegranate Polish.

When Julie Register heard that Westin was opening a spa in their resort on Hilton
Head, she looked forward to a chance to visit the island. She also looked forward
to experiencing the first
Heavenly Spa by Westin in the Continental US (others are located at
The Westin Maui, The Westin Fiji and The Westin Langkawi, in Malaysia). She had
seen the prototype while SpaQuality LLC was doing work with The Westin Maui Resort
& Spa. She was very interested in seeing the finished product and how it would
be rolled out to other locations. | |

Lessons on How NOT to Run a Spa and A Bad Hair Day Julie's been going
to the same high-end salon for over 23 years. Years ago, this salon, like so many
others, added a "spa." For a variety of reasons, she did not feel compelled
to visit this spa in the past. In April, she had a change of heart and decided
to give it a try. This article recounts her experience. For you, dear reader,
it is a lesson in how NOT to run a spa business if you are a spa owner/director
and what NOT to put up with if you are a spa consumer. For Julie, it is
a lesson to trust her instincts. The names are withheld to protect the guilty.
